Contact Eyemark Realty By Email Now Santa Fe College (formerly Santa Fe Community College) has been serving the Gainesville, Florida and North-Central Florida (Heart of Florida) area since 1966. In 2009 the college began offering 4-year degree programs for the first time and removed the word community from its name. Its service area includes Alachua and Bradford Counties, however, there are students enrolled from almost all counties in Florida, from many U.S. states, and from about 80 foreign countries. There is currently a total enrollment of about 17,000 students at seven locations. The main location is the Northwest Campus (184 acres) in Gainesville, Florida with about 14,000 students. It is located on N.W. 83rd Street between N.W. 23rd Avenue and N.W. 39th Avenue near I-75 Exit 390. The Andrews Center in downtown Starke, Florida in Bradford County (1 acre) has about 325 students.
The Watson Center on S.R. 21 in Keystone Heights, Florida in Bradford County (12 acres) has about 320 students.
The Davis Center on S.R. 24 in Archer, Florida (9 acres) in Alachua County has about 300 students.
The Perry Emerging Technologies Center on U.S. 441 in the City of Alachua, Florida in Alachua County opened in 2009.
Santa Fe College has been ranked 5th nationally among community colleges in AA degrees awarded. Nearly 70% of its AA degree graduates go on to attend the University of Florida (UF) which is also located in Gainesville. It has earned the nickname "Gateway to the Gators." Educational programs include the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo with 75 different native and exotic species of animals. It is the only nationally AZA-accredited zoo on a community college campus and attracts over 30,000 visitors per year. Other highly recognized educational programs include the Charles R. Perry Construction Institute, the Health Science and Nursing Program, and the Center for Innovation and Economic Development. Additional attractions are the Kika Silva Pla Planetarium, the Jean Klein Rock Cycle Garden, and the North Woods Natural Teaching Area.
Every year Santa Fe College hosts numerous community education classes for people of all ages including senior citizens. It also offers College for Kids for students who want to get the feel of college at a young age. The Spring Arts Festival in Gainesville and the Starke Fall (Arts) Festival are sponsored by Santa Fe College.
